End of the road
This is our final night and our last post. We actually left Route 66 today, and are staying in Canyon, TX tonight. Tomorrow (Sunday) we head to Flower Mound (where Lynn lives). Carol and Sue will be starting out for Illinois on Monday. It's been a great trip...we've seen a lot of interesting things, met many nice people, ate lots of great food & learned a few new things...it was an adventure that we will never forget!

Sue has thrown caution to the wind, and has been making U-turns on a dime. When the route turned into a dirt road and went through a 1-lane tunnel under the interstate, she kept going, until we could see that the pavement did continue. We decided to take this day a little easier and travel fewer miles. We visited a few trading posts, and were in search of a good ice cream shop, but we ended up settling for pie.

Tuesday, July 17--across the Texas panhandle & Into New Mexico
We have realized that most of you following this blog may know one or two of us, but not all of us. So we thought we'd do belated introductions. We are three sisters: Carol is the eldest, Lynn is the youngest, which leaves Sue in the middle. Sue lives in Bourbonnais, IL and is retired. Carol lives in Hoffman Estates, IL, and works as a receptionist. Lynn lives in Flower Mound, TX and is an elementary school librarian.
(Lynn's sister-in-law, Pansy, has been tagging along. You may have noticed her in some pictures.) We have encountered some of the friendliest, most genuinely kind people along this journey-from the waitresses to the motel owners, to other travelers. We've met people from New Zealand, Michigan, London, Denmark, Ohio and Maryland.
